Policing Project Faculty Director Barry Friedman recently appeared as a guest panelist at the launch event for the NYU Alliance for Public Interest Technology, a group of NYU faculty focused on the responsible and ethical creation, use, and governance of technology.
The launch event was held earlier in the semester and is now available to stream online in its entirety on the Alliance’s YouTube channel. Friedman was interviewed by NYU Law student Olivia Zhu, a current Policing Project student legal fellow, and discussed the Policing Project’s work at the intersections of policing, public policy, and technology.
Friedman and Policing Project Executive Director Farhang Heydari are both associate members of the alliance, which is tasked with supporting new research, developing pipelines for diverse students doing public interest technology work, and building collaborations with academic and non-academic institutions.
