Hal Hess was the senior executive responsible for all international operating divisions (excluding Asia) of American Tower Corporation (“ATC”) from 2009 until his retirement in 2019. Hal initially joined ATC in March 2001 as Chief Financial Officer of American Tower International, which then included operations in Mexico and Brazil.

He subsequently served as General Counsel of ATC from 2002 until 2007, at which time he took over responsibility for the Company’s Latin America operations. Hal led ATC’s expansion in the Latin American region, which grew to eight countries and over US$1.2 billion in revenue. In 2009, Hal added the oversight of ATC’s EMEA region to his responsibilities and helped build these operations from the ground to seven countries and over US$700 million in revenue.

Prior to American Tower, Hal was a partner in the corporate finance group at King & Spalding LLP, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters for telecommunications and infrastructure companies.

Prior to attending law school, Hal practiced as a Certified Public Accountant. He received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University and is a graduate of Harding University.
