Melanca Clark

Melanca Clark is the former President and CEO of Hudson-Webber Foundation. In that role, from 2016-2023, Clark oversaw the administration of nearly $40 million to improve the quality of life for Detroiters, and launched the Michigan Justice Fund, a $20 million funders’ collaborative advancing effective and equitable justice policy in the state of Michigan, as well as the Community Policing Innovations Initiative, both housed at the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Clark held several positions in the Obama Administration, including Chief of Staff of the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing, Senior Policy Advisor with the White House Domestic Policy Council, and Senior Counsel with DOJ’s Access to Justice Initiative.

She also served as Counsel at the Brennan Center for Justice and was a John J. Gibbons Fellow in Public Interest and Constitutional Law at the Gibbons law firm and a Skadden Fellow with the Economic Justice Group of the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund. She has also served as a law clerk, adjunct professor, and litigation associate. Clark earned her law degree from Harvard Law School and her undergraduate degree from Brown University.
