Mecole is a Senior Program officer with the Pritzker Pucker Family Foundation where she is responsible for the Targeted Prevention and Reimagining Public Safety approaches within the Foundation’s Community Safety and Wellness portfolio.
Mecole brings significant experience building broad-based coalitions for reform efforts in Chicago and across Illinois to her position. She is passionate about and dedicated to addressing the racial inequities and structural racism that inhibit the success of communities of color. Prior to the Foundation, Mecole served as the Advocacy Director for the Policing Project at NYU School of Law, where her work centered community perspectives in the organization’s research and demonstration projects.Mecole began her community-based work at Target Area Development Corporation where she helped lead statewide organizing efforts for education and criminal justice reform. She also served as the Executive Director of the United Congress of Community and Religious Organizations, a coalition of POC-led organizations focused on local and statewide policy reform from a human rights and racial equity lens. She is also the former coordinator for the Grassroots Alliance for Police Accountability, where she led the coalition’s early community engagement and Community Coalition for Public Safety and Accountability development efforts.
