Matthew Johnson is a partner at Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. Previously, he was a managing partner at Ziffren Brittenham LLP. Mr. Johnson has extensive experience in representing prominent clients from film, television, music, and sports. In 2008, Mr. Johnson was the youngest person recognized by The Hollywood Reporter as one of the 100 Power Lawyers in the Entertainment Industry, and he has remained on that list every year since. He was also named one of the Root 100 Most Influential African Americans in the United States.

Mr. Johnson supports several charitable and civic organizations. He is currently a Board Member of the International Rescue Committee, LA 2028 Olympic Games, and NYU School of Law. Mr. Johnson was the treasurer of the Kamala Harris Presidential Campaign and previously served as an At-Large Member of the Democratic National Committee where he served on the Budget and Finance Committee. In addition, Mr. Johnson is the former President of the Los Angeles Police Commission and is a former member of the Board of the Airport Commissioners of the City of Los Angeles.

Mr. Johnson was involved with The Boys and Girls Club for over 20 years, serving as a National Trustee as well as Board President of both Challengers Boys & Girls Club in South Los Angeles and the Echo Park Boys & Girls Club. For over a decade, Mr. Johnson was also a member of the board of the Los Angeles Urban League, the Foreign Policy Roundtable and Common Sense Media. He was awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award, received the Lawyer of the Year Award from the Langston Bar Association, was honored by the Zeta Rho Foundation for his positive contributions to society and the youth of greater Los Angeles, and is a proud recipient of the Dream Keeper Award from the I Have a Dream Foundation for his dedication to education.

Mr. Johnson is a graduate of Rutgers University and NYU School of Law.
