J. Scott Thomson

J. Scott Thomson is the former chief, retired, of the Camden City Police Department and the County Police Department, and the past president of the Police Executive Research Forum. In Camden, he designed and implemented a new police department that repaired relationships and significantly reduced crime through community engagement and systems of police accountability.

Chief Thomson is a founding member of the Harvard University Law Enforcement Executive Leadership Group and provided testimony before the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing on best practice models of community policing.
