NYU Alliance for Public Interest Technology: Tech and Policing Panel
Overview
Policing Project Faculty Director Barry Friedman appeared as a guest panelist at the launch event for the NYU Alliance for Public Interest Technology, a group of NYU faculty focused on the responsible and ethical creation, use, and governance of technology. During the event, held in early March 2020, Friedman discussed the Policing Project’s work in ethical regulation of policing tech.
Friedman and Policing Project Executive Director Farhang Heydari are both associate members of the alliance, which is tasked with supporting new research, developing pipelines for diverse students doing public interest technology work, and building collaborations with academic and non-academic institutions.
