Data Collection and Transparency Statute
Overview
Our data collection and transparency statute is a draft model state statute that outlines comprehensive data collection and transparency requirements for law enforcement agencies. The statute includes transparency provisions governing the release of agency policies, collective bargaining agreements, and body-worn camera footage, and also includes data collection and publication requirements regarding stop and arrest data, uses of force by law officers, complaints against officers, and settlements and judgments that agencies enter following officer misconduct.
